Professor Keith Jackson CEng CDir

Master-Elect, The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire

Bio: Keith has four decades of experience in British manufacturing. His journey began at Jaguar Cars as a Design Engineer, where he completed their management development programme and earned his degree in mechanical engineering. Following a Masters in Bioengineering, Keith dedicated over thirty years to the medical technology sector, designing, manufacturing and selling medical products across more than seventy countries worldwide.
As CEO of two medical product companies, Keith has led multi award-winning organisations at the forefront of healthcare innovation. His tenure at JRI Orthopaedics in Sheffield saw him overseeing the precision manufacturing of hip replacements and surgical instruments, followed by leadership in operating theatre equipment, work that has directly improved patient outcomes across the globe.
Keith’s commitment to Sheffield runs deep. Since 1993, he has served as Non-Executive Director at Medilink, Chair of South Yorkshire IoD (Institute of Directors), and held Advisory Board positions at both the AMRC Training Centre and the SCR LEP (Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership.) As a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield, he continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs, ensuring Sheffield’s manufacturing legacy endures.
A Chartered Engineer and Chartered Director, Keith now supports SMEs as a Non Executive Chair and Director as they Scale Up, his leadership developing strong organisational cultures while navigating the complexities of international growth. One of his NED roles is on an international board in Hong Kong.
Beyond his professional achievements, Keith shares his love of travel, photography and live music with his three sons, one a Finance graduate from Sheffield Hallam University and another currently studying Astrophysics at the University of Sheffield.
Keith will be installed as the 386th Master Cutler on 7 October 2025 and will be supported by his wife, Dr Gina Jackson. Together with Gina, a GP, their shared healthcare experience has led them to champion Weston Park Cancer Charity’s “See it, Treat it” campaign, raising funds for a new MRI simulator that will transform treatment for patients across South Yorkshire.
